Edmond (40) lives with his two sons, aged 8 and 12, and his mother in a mud hut. When Edmond was 14, his father died. Six children were left behind, without income or food, and without a home. As the eldest child, he worked hard to provide for his family. But despite having worked for many years, he still lives in a house made of clay and mud, in extreme poverty.
He was married, but his wife could not cope with the poor economic conditions and left him and the children. Since then, Edmond has been raising the children alone and caring for his mother. He is often poorly paid by his employers—because they know he cannot do without the work—and the family lives on bread alone.
In the village, people see how remarkable it is that Edmond is so successful in raising his children. The eldest son is top of his class and often helps his brother with his homework. The brothers enjoy attending children’s activities at church, where they listen to stories and perform plays.
For this father, a house means a new chance to live with dignity again. He is eager to help build his house himself and has all the skills he needs to do so! A new house is a dream come true for his mother and the beginning of a better future for his two sons. Most of the money for this has already been raised, and we will keep you informed about the progression of the building, which will start soon!
